Early Life

Stayve Jerome Thomas, better known by his stage name, Slim Thug, was born in Houston, Texas, and raised in the Northside neighborhood of Scenic Woods.

There is still no official record about Thug’s parents or whether he has an academic education. He has one sibling, a brother named Raymond Thomas. He attended Dwight D. Eisenhoven High School.

He was given the nickname because he was tall and skinny.

Evidently, Slim Thug[1]started to carve his career path at 17 when he performed freestyle rapping at high school parties. However, his ‘more-serious’ career beginnings started with Swishahouse [2 ] in the late 90s where rappers like Paul Wall also were releasing mixtapes. Dj Michael Watts and OG Ron C offered him a record deal with their label.

Soon after that, he realized that he could make a lot more money from distributing his mixtapes, and he separated from Swishahous and created his first solo label, "Boss Hogg Outlawz". Under this label, Slim released three of his albums, "Boyz N Blue", "Serve & Collect", and "Black by Blockular Demand: Serve & Collect".

Later, in 2001, Thug released his first studio project - the mixtape called "I Represent This".
