Chinsea Linda Lee (Shenseea) was born on October 1, 1996, in Mandeville, Jamaica. She has Jamaican ancestry from her mother's side and Korean origin from her father's.

Her mother died in 2020, and she had never met her father, as he left her mom when she was six months pregnant with Shenseea.[1]

As a child, she sang in the church choir in her hometown and was a fan of Michael Jackson and Whitney Huston. Her first stage performance was when she was eight years old.[2]

Before officially swimming into the music industry, Shenseea was dipping her feet in the singing waters by posting covers of herself on her social media channels.

Her boss saw her videos, noticed her talents, and suggested a singer-manager collaboration.

In an interview for Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM, she revealed that the collaboration was based on mutual trust.[3]

After releasing her first song, "Jiggle Jiggle," in 2016, her career took off, leading to a collaboration with Vybz Kartel. Together, they released "Loodi," officially launching her into the music industry.

In 2017, she was featured in Sean Paul's song "Rolling," which received more than five million views.

In 2019, Shenseea signed with Interscope Records and released the song "Blessed" featuring Tyga.
