Early life

Ryan Cabrera was born in Dallas, Texas, where he spent all of his childhood and early adulthood. His father, Francisco Frank Cabrera, is Colombian, and his mother, Deborah Ann ‘Debbie’ Cabrera, is an American.

He lived in a suburban area of Dallas, where he attended the Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, and graduated in 2000.

He started singing in a punk band at the time - “Caine”. He started studying at The University of Texas, but never finished his studies, as Cabrera wanted to start pursuing his musical career.

Additionally, Ryan appeared on the “Son of the Mask” soundtrack with his song “Inside Your Mind,” and on the “Fantastic Four” soundtrack with his song “Always Come Back to You”.

n 2005, Cabrera released his second solo studio album, “You Stand Watching”, which included some of his biggest hits - “Shine On” and “Photo”. Reportedly, his song “Photo” was inspired by his relationship with the famous singer and actress Ashlee Simpson. His second studio album reached #24 on the Billboard 200 and sold 37,000 copies in the first week. At this time, Ryan hosted the MTV series “Score”, where contestants wrote and performed their songs.

In 2004, Cabrera appeared in several episodes in the first season of “The Ashlee Simpson Show” while they were dating. She also appeared in the music video for his song “On the Way Down”. Cabrera also opened for Ashlee’s sister, Jessica Simpson, on her tour.
