Ryan Cabrera was born in Dallas, Texas, where he spent all of his childhood and early adulthood. His father, Francisco Frank Cabrera, is Colombian, and his mother, Deborah Ann ‘Debbie’ Cabrera, is an American.

He lived in a suburban area of Dallas, where he attended the Jesuit College Preparatory School of Dallas, and graduated in 2000.

He started singing in a punk band at the time - “Caine”. He started studying at The University of Texas, but never finished his studies, as Cabrera wanted to start pursuing his musical career.
