The PLL was founded by Paul Rabil, the sport's most high-profile player and personality, and his brother, Mike Rabil, a serial entrepreneur and investor, in 2018.

The PLL wants to show off the best players in the world by touring around the country and introducing the sport to new cities. The PLL has received support from significant investors and entertainment groups, like The Raine Group, Creative Artists Agency (CAA), The Chernin Group, and Blum Capital.
