Lil Keed is an American rapper, signed under Young Thug’s record label YSL - Young Stoner Life.
Lil Keed released three studio albums in his lifetime, including collaborations with other YSL members. His music belongs to the hip-hop/trap genre.
At the time of his death, Lil Keed’s net worth was estimated at $1 million.
Lil Keed, born Raqhid Jevon Render, grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. He came from a big family; he had six brothers and one sister, with his youngest brother being the famous rapper Lil Gotit, born Semaja Render.
His parents separated at an early age but were both present throughout his life. He initially started making music with his brother, Lil Gotit, in 2016. They uploaded their music online and got some local support.
When he was young, he worked in local McDonald’s and Subway stores but spent a lot of time in studios trying to create music almost daily.
In an interview with HotNewHipHop, Keed explained how he became a part of YSL. As he stated, ‘he was always YSL, simply by being from the same neighborhood.’ He and Young Thug were acquaintances from a long time ago, but one day Thug came to the apartments where they used to hang out, and Keed’s brother called him and told Keed to come. Reportedly, it was Young Thug’s mom that told him to sign Lil Keed to YSL, and the rest was history.[1]
In 2018, Lil Keed released his single “Slatt Rock” along with his mixtape “Trapped on Cleveland 2”. Later in 2018, both Lil Keed and his younger brother Lil Gotit appeared on Lil Uzi Vert’s song “Heavy Metal.”
By the end of 2018, Lil Keed released his second mixtape - “Keed Talk to ‘Em,” featuring 21 Savage, Trippie Redd, Lil Durk, Lil Yachty, and Brandy.
In 2019, Keed appeared as a featured artist on Lil Gotit’s song “Drop The Top,”, and a couple of days later, Lil Keed released his own new song, “Move It,” featuring the popular Migos member - Offset.
In March 2019, Lil Keed was nominated for the #10 spot for the XXL Freshman cover. A month later, Keed released his new single “Oh My God,” followed by “Proud of Me,” featuring YSL owner - Young Thug.
At the same time, Lil Keed released his fourth studio album, “Long Live Mexico,” with the title being a dedication to his friend Mexico who passed away earlier that year while Lil Keed was on tour with Trippie Redd. The album featured artists like Gunna, Lil Uzi Vert, Roddy Ricch, YNW Melly, and Young Thug. The album reached #26 on the Billboard 200 and #11 on the Hot Rap Albums Chart. The “Long Live Mexico” album would turn out to be his most successful one.
Later in 2019, Lil Keed was a featured artist on Future’s single “Undefeated.” He later released the music videos for “HBS” and “Churches Peppers.”
In September 2019, Keed released “Saliva” and “Swap It Out,” followed by “Brotherly Love,” a collaboration with Lil Gotit.
In 2020, Keed announced his newest album - “Trapped On Cleveland 3”, followed by his collab with Lil Yachty, Lil Gotit, and Zaytoven for the single “A-Team.” The album included guest appearances by 42 Dugg, Future, Gunna, Lil Baby, Travis Scott, Young Thug, and Ty Dolla Sign.
In April 2020, he released “No Dealings,” followed by “Wavy,” which was not on the album “Trapped on Cleveland 3”, but the remix featured rapper Travis Scott.
In June 2020, Keed released “Fox 5”, featuring Gunna. While the music video shooting was taking place, a shooting occurred, which resulted in two people being injured.
He later released “She Know,” featuring Lil Baby.[2]
