Biography and early life

LiAngelo Robert Ball was born in Anaheim, California, on November 24, 1998. He descended from ‘basketball royalty’ because six of his family members have played in the NBA.

Anyways, LiAngello was not only fond of basketball but also football; however, being raised by basketball players influenced him to continue a career in basketball. He is the second child of LaVar[1]and Tina Ball, both basketball players. He has one older brother, Lonzo, and one younger brother, Lamelo, both professional basketball players.

LiAngelo went to Chino High School and then studied at the University of California.


We can say that Ball’s career started when he was still a teenager. In his high school years, when he played basketball for four years at Chino Hills High School in California. It was evident that even in his freshman year, Bell became a successful basketball player when he helped Chino Hills reach its first CIF Southern Section[2]Open Division championship game.

Later, as a sophomore, he played with his brother Lonzo and his cousin Andre Ball. Ball's high school career is marked by scoring 53 points in a 111- 80 win over Dorsey High School.

Junior season

In his junior season, Ball played along with his brother, Lonzo[3]and LaMelo[4] , and in 2015, he scored 32 points in the City of Palms Classic quarterfinals. Success followed him further because he also won 40 points in a semifinal win over High Point Christian Academy and won the tournament.

Afterward, he just continued making great results; against Janesboro High School, Ball scored 41 points; against Etiwanda High School, he scored 32 points; he won the CIF Southern Section Open Division title over Sierra Canyon School and scored 31 points, etc.

Senior season

In his senior season, Ball scored 56 points and won the game over Lutheran High School of Orange County and many other successful games followed after that.

College career

Ball’s college career also took off well, and he was a consensus three-star recruit. His talent was very noticeable, and[5]ranked him outside their top 200 recruits. In addition, he was ranked as the 50th-best shooting guard in his class.

In 2016, things got serious career-wise, because Ball had already committed to play for the UCLA Bruins and enrolled at the University of California, LA, in 2017.

His college career opened the door to his professional career because, in 2017, he signed a contract with Prienai[6]of the Lithuanian Basketball League, together with his younger brother LaMelo.

In 2018, Ball signed a contract with the Los Angeles Ballers[7]of the Junior Basketball Association, a league founded by his father.

In 2019, LiAngelo went under surgery for his ankle injury and missed the NBA Summer League; however, later in the same year, he was signed with the Oklahoma City Blue for the NBA G League as a practice player.

In 2022, Ball was signed to a training camp contract by the Detroit Pistons.

In 2021, he was selected by the Greensboro Swarm[8]in the NBA G League draft[9] , and in his G League debut, he scored 22 points.

In 2022, LiAngelo joined the Charlotte Hornets for the NBA Summer League.
