He is the second child of LaVar[1]and Tina Ball, both basketball players. He has one older brother, Lonzo, and one younger brother, Lamelo, both professional basketball players.

Later, as a sophomore, he played with his brother Lonzo and his cousin Andre Ball. Ball's high school career is marked by scoring 53 points in a 111- 80 win over Dorsey High School.
In his junior season, Ball played along with his brother, Lonzo[3]and LaMelo[4] , and in 2015, he scored 32 points in the City of Palms Classic quarterfinals. Success followed him further because he also won 40 points in a semifinal win over High Point Christian Academy and won the tournament.
