Joseph Anthony Mantegna was born in Chicago, Illinois, USA; however, his family descends from Italy.

Joe started his professional acting career in the theater in 1969 when he got a role and debuted in the musical ‘Hair’.[1]

After that, he participated in another musical, ‘Working’ (1978), and the drama play ‘Glengarry Glen Ross’ (1984-1985).
