Early Life

Iliza Vie Shlesinger was born on February 22, 1983, in New York and was raised in Dallas, Texas, with her Jewish family.

She went to Greenhill School in Addison, Texas, where she excelled in Spanish and dominated the improv class. After high school, Iliza wanted to expand her education and her comedy career.

Therefore, she went to the University Of Kansas and attended and performed at ComedySportz [1] , an improvisational comedy organization intended mainly for newbies.

Iliza spent her first year at college studying at the University of Kansas, and in her sophomore year, she went abroad through an organization called "Semester At Sea."

After her year abroad, Iliza transferred to Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she became well-educated in writing and editing and majored in film.


Almost immediately after graduating from college, Iliza moved to Los Angeles to pursue her stand-up comedy career.

When she finally settled in LA, Iliza became a part of the WhiteBoy Comedy Club and became an active and one of the most popular members of the club.

In 2007, Iliza continued to fight for her career in an overall male-dominated industry and won the contest "So You Think You're Funny," powered by the popular social media site at that time, MySpace. [2]

Iliza was named MySpace Girl of the week by G4, which jump-started her career even more. In 2008, Iliza became the first woman to win "The Last Comic Standing" and the youngest winner in the show.

How Iliza Became The Face Of Netflix

You would be amazed at how many Netflix shows are produced and written by Iliza. She has her hands on some fantastic tv shows and some Netflix comedy specials.

One of the most recent works that she has done is writing, directing, and producing her own Netflix series called "Good On Paper." The show is excellent and innovative, and you can see that Iliza put her heart and sweat into the play.[3]

"Good On Paper" is a show about Iliza's real and personal experience with a pathological liar that, unfortunately, she has dated. She is, of course, the star of the show, accompanied by Ryan Hansen as her lying partner.

Iliza has also produced and starred in her own Netflix comedy shows. In 2013, she starred in her stand-up comedy film, "War Paint," where she talks about dating, hanging out with friends, and many other things from her life.

After her first stand-up special got terrific reviews in 2015, Iliza decided to release her second show in collaboration with Netflix, "Freezing Hot."

Personal Life

Iliza met her husband, Noah Galuten, a famous chef, book writer, and food critic, on a dating app and the couple instantly fell in love with each other. They got married in May 2018, In Los Angeles. In January 2022, the couple welcomed their first child, Sierra Mae.

Besides being a new mom, she is also an experienced "dog mom." In an interview, she reveals that she takes her dog, Tian Fu, on tour with her.

The puppy is very comfortable on the tour bus, and it helps Iliza keep calm during her tours and being apart from her family, she explains.
