Iliza Vie Shlesinger was born on February 22, 1983, in New York and was raised in Dallas, Texas, with her Jewish family.
She went to Greenhill School in Addison, Texas, where she excelled in Spanish and dominated the improv class. After high school, Iliza wanted to expand her education and her comedy career.
Therefore, she went to the University Of Kansas and attended and performed at ComedySportz [1] , an improvisational comedy organization intended mainly for newbies.
Iliza spent her first year at college studying at the University of Kansas, and in her sophomore year, she went abroad through an organization called "Semester At Sea."
After her year abroad, Iliza transferred to Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, where she became well-educated in writing and editing and majored in film.

Almost immediately after graduating from college, Iliza moved to Los Angeles to pursue her stand-up comedy career.
When she finally settled in LA, Iliza became a part of the WhiteBoy Comedy Club and became an active and one of the most popular members of the club.
In 2007, Iliza continued to fight for her career in an overall male-dominated industry and won the contest "So You Think You're Funny," powered by the popular social media site at that time, MySpace. [2]
