Biography

Gangsta Boo is an American rapper, record producer, and DJ, most famous as being the first and only member of the hip-hop group ‘Three 6 Mafia’. She was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, specifically, the Whitehaven area.

Her net worth in 2022 is estimated at $2 million, mostly from her albums and shows.

Early life

Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, aka Gangsta Boo, was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee, in a middle-class home.

When she was still a teenager, her parents divorced, so she had to move back into the ‘hood,’ which is how she started rapping at the age of 14.

There is no available information about her parents’ names or if she has any siblings.

She finished high school, but the name of the high school is unknown. Based on the fact that she lived in the South Side of Memphis, she probably went to high school in that area of the city.

She never addressed whether she went to college.

Career

In 1995, Boo joined the Three 6 Mafia hip-hop group, and also started dating member DJ Paul.[1]They were widely known as a power couple, and even though they never got engaged or married, they had a stable, loving relationship.

In an interview with DJ Vlad, Gangsta Boo was asked to go into details about why she left Three 6 Mafia, or what caused her and DJ Paul to break up, but all she stated was “situations.”

After leaving Three 6 Mafia, she had her first album released in 1998 - ‘Enquiring Minds,’ which reached #15 on the ‘Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums’ chart and #46 on the ‘Billboard 200’. The biggest hit from her debut solo album was ‘Where Dem Dollas At!?’

Gangsta Boo released her second solo album, ‘Both Worlds *69’ in 2001, and this time she reached #8 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and #29 on the Billboard 200.[2]

By 2003, Boo had already released her third solo album - ‘Enquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera.’ This album reached #53 on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart and #24 on the ‘Independent Albums’ chart.

By 2009, she had released three mixtapes: ‘Street Ringers Vol. 1’, ‘Still Gangsta,’ and ‘The Rumors.’ She collaborated with DJ Fletch and released two more mixtapes: ‘Miss.Com’ and ‘4 Da Hood’.

In 2011, she released a new mixtape with Trap-A-Holics, called ‘Forever Gangsta.’ Two years later, she joined a Three 6 Mafia spin-off group, Da Mafia 6, and appeared with multiple features on the debut mixtape - ‘6ix Commandments’.

The next year she left the group, and collaborated with La Chat to release the extended mixtape ‘Witch.’

Later in 2014, she collaborated with BeatKing and released another mixtape - ‘Underground Cassette Tape Music, Vol. 1’, and released ‘Underground Cassette Tape Music, Vol. 2’ four years later, in 2018.

Gangsta Boo appeared on the album ‘RTJ4’ by Run The Jewels, on their track ‘Walking in the Snow’ in 2020.

After her appearance on ‘Love Again’ with Killer Mike and El-P, Boo joined the duo and started touring festivals across the states, including Coachella.[3]

When she released her 2015 mixtape ‘Candy, Diamonds & Pills,’ produced by BeatKing, she managed to make a name for herself again.

After she finished the tours with Killer Mike and El-P, she recorded her fourth studio album ‘The Boo Print.’ Soon she appeared on VERZUZ battle between Three 6 Mafia and Bone Thugz-n-Harmony.

Her latest appearances include her new single “Sucka Free,” produced by Drumma Boy, and the GTA anthem ‘Freaks.’

She also appeared on the new season of the reality show by WE TV Series - ‘Marriage Boot Camp’ with her boyfriend, Emmett.

Personal life

Gangsta Boo does her best to keep her personal life as private as possible. There are no official statements about her parents, siblings, where she went to school, or if she went to college.

She hasn’t been engaged or married, and the only two public relationships she’s ever had were with DJ Paul and Emmett, who was a part of the ‘Marriage Boot Camp’ show with her.

All that is known about her is that she has a dog, a pit bull called Chilly.

Controversies

In the VERZUZ battle for Three 6 Mafia & Bone Thugz-n-Harmony, there was a brawl on-stage, when Bizzy Bone threw a bottle of water at Gangsta Boo, and all hell broke loose. The main issue was that Bizzy Bone thought that Crunchy Black was mocking him while he was performing.

The two groups nearly started getting physical, and the whole thing was out of control for a while.

After the VERZUZ battle finished, Bizzy Bone stated it ‘was all love,’ and the altercation came to a quick end.

Conclusion

Lola Chantrelle Mitchell, also known as Gangsta Boo, or Lady Boo, is one of the first female rappers that managed to make a name for herself in a predominantly male business.

Her career peaked in the late ‘90s and early ‘00s, and her accumulated net worth as of 2022 is estimated at $2 million. There are no official records of any properties Boo might own, cars, cribs, and any sort of luxurious jewelry.
