Early life

Elliot Grainge, born on November 6th, 1993, is the son of Universal Music Group’s CEO - Lucian Grainge. Elliot’s mother, Samantha Berg, suffered massive complications during birth, which caused her to slip into a coma from which she unfortunately never fully recovered. She passed away in 2006.[1]

In 2009, Elliot moved to the United States, where he attended Northeastern University in Boston. While he was in college, he had a bottle service club promotion business, mainly focusing on dance and hip-hop venues. After graduating, he moved to Los Angeles to be with his family.[2]

Career

In 2016, Elliot founded 10K Projects in Los Angeles, signing rappers Iann Dior, Trippie Redd, and Tekashi 6ix9ine. In addition, he signed Surfaces - a beach pop band. In an interview, Grainge mentioned that it was best to find underground artists on SoundCloud before the streaming era, stating that he noticed many on the platform. In addition, he talked about his friend - Az Cohen, who discovered Post Malone when he only had around 800 listeners on SoundCloud.[3]

The artists that are signed under 10K Projects are distributed by Universal Music Group’s daughter company Caroline Records.

In 2019, Grainge and Taz Taylor, another music producer, joined in a venture deal with 10K Projects and Internet Money Records. This charitable division donated to racial justice charities, called 10K Together.[4]

Elliot Grainge is engaged to Sofia Richie, a social media personality and the daughter of world-famous singer Lionel Richie. The couple started dating at the beginning of 2021 and got engaged in April 2022.

In an interview, her father, Lionel Richie, stated that he loves Elliot and he has known him for more than a decade, and he doesn’t need to worry about his daughter being in good hands.[5]
