Clara Wu Tsai was born in 1966 in Lawrence, Kansas, to her immigrant parents, Chin-Sha Wu and Dr. De Min Wu.

She comes from a very educated family; her father was a professor of economics, so, following in her parent’s footsteps, Clara enrolled at Stanford University, where she received her bachelor's and master's degree in international relations.

She further expanded her education and got her Master's In Business Administration from Harvard University.
